I originally trained as an actor and worked for many years in the theatre, touring plays in England and Wales, in all manner of settings and spaces. I also worked as a Director, and still occasionally take part in making work with others.
In 1992-94 I trained as a Voice Movement Therapist and have worked privately with clients since then. I have led many workshops for groups and facilitated voice and theatre projects for Theatre Centre, Heart n’ Soul, Graeae, Cardboard Citizens, and other theatre companies. I also designed and led courses and workshops for The Royal College of Music, Goldsmiths University, the Musician’s Union, and The School of Life.
For 15 years I developed and taught the voice curriculum for The European Theatre Arts Course at Rose Bruford College, encouraging the creative and expressive use of the voice. At The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, I lead the development and enquiry into the Personal Voice for students on the MA Voice Studies course.
While training in Voice Movement Therapy I was introduced to Core Process Psychotherapy, and some years later studied at The Karuna Institute starting with the Foundation Course. At the end of this, Maura Sills introduced the full programme for training as a psychotherapist. I felt my heart beating and decided to take the 4 year training, receiving an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy from Middlesex University in 2006.
I was first introduced to Kum Nye 20 years ago as part of the Core Process Psychotherapy training. In 2019 I completed the one year Kum Nye training at Karuna Institute with Cheryl Allen, Grainne Delaney, and Maura Sills, who initially trained with Tarthang Tulku in the 1970s. Since 2014 I have attended classes with Mary Heneghan in Oxford.
I ran a private psychotherapy practice for 8 years in South East London and led the Group Process module for the Diploma in Counselling at London Metropolitan University for three years. My practice is now based in Oxfordshire.
